KANCHIPURAM KOVIL IDLY

For Idly batter
- Raw rice-1 cup
- urad dal-1 cup
- curd-1/4 tsp
- salt-1/2 tsp
- fenugreek seeds-1/4 tsp
Ingredients:
- ghee-1 tbsp
- cashew-5 chopped
- oil-1 tsp
- mustard seeds-1 tbsp
- urad dal-1 tsp
- chana dal-1 tsp
- curry leaves-2 sprigs chopped
- pepper-2 tbsp crushed
- cumin seeds-1 tsp crushed
- ginger-1 piece chopped
- hing powder-1/4 tsp
- coconut-2 piece chopped
- dry ginger powder-1/4 tsp
Procedure:
For Idly Batter:
wash the raw rice and urad dal for 4 or 5 times
Add the water in raw rice and urad dal with fenugreek seeds,soak for 5 times
After 5 hours grind the raw rice and urad dal mix well
Add salt and curd into it
keep it for 8 hours
For Kanchpiuram kovil idly:
Take a pan add ghee once it heat add mustard seeds,urad dal,chana dal.curry leaves,ginger,pepper,cumin,hing powder,coconut piece fry it
Add dry ginger powder into it
mix in idly batter
add the batter in a glass and keep in steamer for 30 minutes
cut and serve with chutney,sambar and coffee
